Be On The Lookout For Wild Women!

Yes, there are Wild Women running around the Spokane area. They are the ones gathering up all of the rusty, chippy, shabby and vintage goodness they can get their hands on. So I suggest you get your little cowgirl self up to the 5 Mile Prairie and graze on the beauty of it all. Jennifer will be there with her boots on, I mean flip flops and she will be looking forward to seeing all ya'll. I wiil be in Portland looking for more vintage goodness for our next show, The Mad Hatter.

This weekend we will on the road to Sandpoint to see our friends Hollie and Jennifer at the Funky Junk Show, which will be Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3rd and 4th. I'm so excited, we get to be on the other side this time and SHOP!!!!! Hope to see everyone there!

Happy Fourth of July!!!

Thank you to all those who have gone before us and those are still fighting for our freedoms!
Wishing you all a happy, fun and safe Fourth of July!

THE GLORIOUS FOURTH

By Cora S. Day

The bright flags wave,
The big drums beat,
To keep the time
For marching feet.
We love our Country's
Flag so gay-
Not just the Fourth,
But every day.

We all will try
our very best
To be good patriots
With the rest.
For then the Fourth
Will glorious be,
When we all love
Our Country free.

The Greatest Show On Earth!!

I love doing The Farm Chicks show!! Every year as I drive to the fairgrounds I think how lucky we are to be able to participate in this show. We are so thankful for that opportunity. We have been vendors at the show for the past four years and every time I first see this sign announcing The Farm Chicks I get goose bumps and then the tears follow. Really. Silly I know, but it is so awesome to be a part of it. People come from all over the world to attend the show.

These ladies (sorry, I don't know their names) came prepared to wait in line. They are devoted Farm Chick fans. We love ya'll!!

A little corner of our booth and our home away from home for two days. We spent many long hours cleaning, painting, sanding, stapling, gluing and glittering. We stayed up late, very late, finishing our projects.

Unexpected Necessities

Junk Salvation

Retreat

Junebug

These lovely ladies are sisters who drove from Salt Lake City, Utah just to come to The Farm Chicks show. We had so much fun getting to know them. We had to take a picture of them with the Pink Lady they bought from us. I hope we see them next year!

Cute red boots, huh??!! The lady that bought these from us wanted to try them on, but didn't have socks and they were hard to get on. I suggested she put one of our sweet pink bags on each foot and then her feet should slide right in those boots. And slide they did, they felt so good she wanted to wear them, so off she went boot heels clicking on the concrete floor and pink ruffles of plastic flowing out the top each boot. We do whatever it takes to make a Farm Chick Girl happy!!

Le Petite Waffles

Small, tiny, petite, however you say it, these waffles are just plain 'ol cute! Yes, they look just like Eggos, but wait....these tiny waffles were made right here in my kitchen at home, and not in the toaster either. I found this Le Petite Waffle Iron at a sale recently and it just screamed, no not screamed, it was a very lady like call to me saying, "Aren't I the cutest thing ever, you really must take me home!" Wouldn't you know, me being a lover of all things petite, I found myself in line to pay for the little thing.

Sweet, huh?!!
How do you suppose the Eggo people are going to make their waffles now??!

It's a Pink Sunny Day!!

I would like to introduce you to Jennifer's new little friend, Prince Pinkalot. It is a beautiful day around here in the land of Pink and Prince Pinkalot hopped in to say hello. We have been taking advantage of the warm sunshine and cool breeze to spray paint (Pink, of course) things we will be taking to Farm Chicks. We are so excited to be a part of this show once again.
I brought back tons of "junk" from our recent trip to Texas and everywhere in between, more on that to come. I can't wait to share with ya'll what I found!!

Funky Junk Antique Show

Spring is just around the corner, and a sure sign is the Funky Junk Antique Show! We have been collecting lot's of funky junk, painting and creating new pretties getting ready for the upcoming show, our first of the season. Actually Kathy will not be attending the show. She is on her way to the big state of TEXAS where she will be going to Canton and the Round Top antiques fair and all those fun little shops along the way. I'm sure she will be bringing a car load back for
The Farm Chicks Show in June.

Mark your calenders for April 9th and 10th for two fun filled days of good old junk!
The show is located in Chattaroy. Wa at the Irish Dance Hall Grange 8216 E. Big Meadow Rd.
Just 15 short minutes north of Spokane, Wa. Hope to see you there!

How Did That Happen?

It really doesn't take a whole lot for us to get excited over something and then to say, I'm so going to blog this. Well, here we are. We just had the carpet cleaned in the family room and this is what we were left with, not only a clean carpet, but GIANT banners on it. Sweet, huh??! Jennifer and I are thinking of adding some ribbons, pink or blue, of course, glitter, lots of glitter, and maybe some letters to spell out Please Remove Your Shoes (before entering the Queen's residence). Sounds like an excellent idea to me. Bring on the glitter!

Have A Sweet Day!!

Blame it on Serena. Yep, it's all her fault. She gave us the idea of making these adorably sweet, tiny doughnut cupcakes. Well, mine did not turn out as picture perfect as hers, but you know what?? They taste absolutely DIVINE! I used the recipe Serena used from Country Living.
They were just a tad bit of a pain in the neck to make and it all takes a while since the pan is sooooo small. What we won't do for cuteness on a plate!

Hope your Valentine's Day is grand!!

Do you journal?

A journal is (definition from dictionary)"A personal record of occurrences, experiences, and reflections kept on a regular basis; a diary. An official record of daily proceedings." A journal is a continuing record of meaningful experiences that affect our lives. What would you like to remember about yourself? What would you like to tell your children or grandchildren about yourself? I personally don't feel like I am a very good story teller, or have anything interesting to write about, but writing in a journal is all about keeping and savoring memories. You may never be remembered for your superb writing skills, profound insight or your experiences, but you are the only one who can describe how you felt when your first child was born, or the day you got your first "new" car as a teenager. Journal writing is the perfect place to sort out all of our problems, set goals, preserve memories and develop dreams.

I have to admit that I do not keep a journal. I have started one on several different occasions, but I couldn't tell you where they are though. I have made journals before, but this time as I made these, I felt different about them, like I needed to begin one of my own. So... now I will begin the journey of journaling!

P.S. The journals pictured above are for sale. If anyone is interested send me a message!
Happy Day~Jennifer

MINE!!!!!!

A crafty girl really needs her own tools and as I have learned from my handy as a pocket on a shirt husband( AKA as The Wizard), they have to be Craftsman. Did you know that if ever one of these screwdrivers breaks I can walk into Sears and get a new one??!! Yessiree Bob, that's all you do. These things are so well made though that they almost NEVER break. The Wizard did have one break a few years back, so it does happen.

As you can see, each of these babies has a swipe of pretty pink nail polish and a K on it. Oh, why is that you ask?? That would be because these are MINE! I will be nice and let anyone use them, BUT you better put them back where you found them! I finally put The Wizard's back. He still seems to think I have more somewhere. I can't imagine why that is.

Aren't these the cutest little screwdrivers ever!! I just love the little ones. I call them the newly hatched ones. So sweet!
Now, this crafty girl is taking the day off to make some crafty goodness!

A Cupcake Sunday

The other day while lurking around some of my favorite blogs, I came across this 'new' to me recipe on the blog Hello my Name is Heather. So of course, I had to try it out. You use a cake mix, any flavor, I used vanilla, some people might say white, but really which sounds yummier?? And you use instant pudding, a flavor that will be compatible with the cake mix. I topped it with a butter cream frosting to which I added a small amount of strawberry jam. They turned out delicious. The frosting makes the cupcake, any frosting, any cupcake. A cupcake without frosting is nothing, boring, ho-hum little piece of cake, something that could be used as packing. Anyway, here's the recipe, hope you enjoy it!!

Easy Gourmet Cupcakes
1 box cake mix - any flavor
1 small box pudding mix
4 eggs
1 C. sour cream
1/2 C. water
1/2 C. oil

Choose a cake mix and a pudding mix with compatible flavors. Mix this stuff all together and bake as instructed -- till toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack, then add frosting.

Butter Cream Frosting
1/3 c butter
3 c powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
about 2 Tbs milk
Blend butter and sugar. Stir in vanilla and milk; beat until frosting is smooth and of spreading consistency.

I left out the vanilla and added maybe 1/2 cup strawberry jam.

Baby Hands At Work

Is there anything cuter and more adorable than chubby little baby hands?? I don't think so, especially when that baby is my grandson Jackson. Jackson and his parents were here for a visit last week and it was a little slice of heaven. I just can't get enough of that little boy. He lives in a land far away so we don't get to see him very often. When he is here though, I can't keep my hands off his sweet squishy little body.

Jackson would carry this spoon around and not put it down for anything. He would play with toys all the while holding on to the spoon. I don't know what the deal was, I guess you could call it his security spoon.

Oh, the sweetness of the little feet! Jackson had a lot of new territory to explore at Grandma's house and these little feet did not let him down. He was everywhere all at once.

One evening, while Jackson was here,we had popcorn and watched a movie. I was sitting on the floor and every so often Jackson would come to me to get a bite of popcorn. Several times he would put his spoon in my bowl and give it a stir and popcorn would go flying through the air. While I would be caught up in laughter he would quickly grab a handful of popcorn with his other hand and smoosh it in his mouth. I guess he decided he didn't want those itty bitty pieces I had been giving him, he wanted a mouthful. He knew what he wanted and he had a plan...and he got it. Next time he visits, he just might have his own bowl AND then I'll get my spoon....

A Flea Kind of Week End

The way I see it, since Christmas is over, the new year has begun, the snow needs to just go away NOW. The weather has been so nasty at times, we just don't want to go anywhere unless we really need something. Well, when we heard the flea market was going on, we said, " Yeah, we really need something." Who could resist this old doll head? Jennifer's daughter thinks it's CREEPY, but what does she know??? I think she is adorable and will be more so after she gets her crown(which she has totally earned).
The round tin is from Swan's Down Flour company. My sister 's first job was At Swans Down in Fort Worth, Texas where she filled grocery orders. I love this tin! I plan on using it in my craft room to hold cute stuff, of course.

In 1957 you could get one full year (6 issues) of Figure & Beauty magazine for 2$. Wowie Zowie, sign me up,because I want to learn about those "brilliant and revolutionary techniques for acquiring allure...glamour...charm."

My weights will now be known as....Glamor-Bells, thanks to Figure & Beauty magazine. But, I won't be caught dead using my Glamor-Bells in my swimsuit and heels. No, I don't think so. Did you know Glamor-Bells can glamorize your legs??? How does that work when you use them with your arms? Maybe, in 1957 it was different. Anyway, Glamor-Bells are an investment in charm and beauty AND since they are finished in Venus Pink Enamel, they are an ornament to your room. What more could a girl want!??

We also found an assortment of vintage cards, report cards, maps, and whatever that thing is from the Lloyd Dress Company. You can never have too much whatever.
Here's to hoping spring is just around the corner...AFTER this next storm that is headed our way.
Meanwhile, we shall be in our craft rooms doing what we do with our....whatever.

Inspiring words for the New Year

A page from Boho magazine

I think that we all have a well deep inside of us filled with dreams and ideas that we have pushed aside and think, oh, someday. "Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans," to quote John Lennon. It's time to listen to that still small voice and pull out one of those dreams from the well, work hard on it and make it happen. My dream is to be more creative, to not be afraid to stand alone with my ideas, to use the talents I have been blessed with and to hopefully touch someone's heart with what I do. The following is also from the magazine.

Walk with the dreamers
the believers,
the courageous,
the cheerful,
the planners, the doers,
the successful
people with their
head in the clouds
and their feet on the
ground. Let their spirit
ignite a fire within
you, to leave this
world better than
when you found it.

Wilford Peterson

I hope that these words from the magazine will ignite the creative spirit in us all and we will allow our dreams to float to the top of the well. May all of our dreams become reality in this new year.
