The Farm Chicks Cookbook

We are so excited to get our hands on this book to see what The Farm Chicks have created in the Kitchen. Listed below are the dates and times they will be doing book signings.

Snow days

Oh the snow! In the month of December we had over 5 feet of snow fall! Can you even believe that. It is hard to imagine, but we are living in the midst of it all. With such large amounts of the glorious white flakes falling from the sky, I though that I would post a few pictures to let you see for yourself what we are left to deal with.

This is looking into our back yard.

The deck that had been shoveled twice already, and got a fresh layer of snow in a matter of hours.

Over 30 roofs around town have collapsed because of the weight of the snow. Thankfully no one has been hurt.

Wal Mart snow removal. Many business around town closed for a short time to remove snow.


There must be 50 people up on this roof shoveling snow. The more the merrier!

Glittery snow girls

I was browsing the magazine isle at one of our local grocery stores when something caught my eye. They were glittery, they took my breath away and I knew I had to make some. What I saw was snow people made from glass bottles. How imaginative!! Don't ya just love it! Glitter makes everything better. You will find snow people on the front of the current issue of Cloth, Paper,Scissors magazine. The ones pictured here I made and will be living at my house this Christmas. They were sooooo fun to make. I used my seam binding I recently bought on Etsy and my Cavallini Paris stamps, which I love.

Nestting Vintage Market

Recently we participated in the Nestting vintage Market. This is a monthly market that is opened the 2nd full weekend of each month. (except for winter months) Check the website for calender and directions. Nestting.com

English Toffee

English Toffee

1/2 lb real butter
1 cup brown sugar

Melt butter and brown sugar together on medium heat. Cook to 295 using a candy thermometer,stir constantly. Pour toffee onto a cookie sheet over 1/2 cup crushed nuts. (nuts optional) Using either 2 Hershey's chocolate bars or milk chocolate chips sprinkle over hot toffee. Let the chocolate melt and spread over the top. Nuts could be sprinkled over the top as well. Let toffee cool and break into bite sized pieces. Yummm!!!

Billy Bobs worlds largest honkey tonk.American Girl Doll store in Dallas. Oh my gosh!!! This is a must, no matter how old you are. The store is amazing, filled to the brim with pure delight for all ages! My daughter brought her Samantha doll all the way from Wa with her just to get her hair done and to have lunch with her. They cater to the girls and their dolls right down to a mini sized menu for your doll and a tiny chair for her to sit at the table. The sweet potato fries are to die for!

Road Trip

Oh, it has been awhile since we last posted. We really need to get better at this blog thing.
Soooo..... we will update you on some of our adventures over the past few months.


On our most recent trip to Texas in July, we went to a peach festival in Weatherford. We had some most delicious homemade peach ice cream and some really yummy peach cobbler. The streets in downtown Weatherford were filled with vendors selling everything peachy to those selling tutus for American Girls Dolls. It was so hot and not much shade made it almost unbearable, but we managed to push on. There was shopping to be done after all! We managed to find a shop with air conditioning and made our way inside. Kathy bought some adorable little plates with cute flowers and red trim... so cute! She also found this pattern for little Dutch boy and girl clothes.
Next we ventured back out into the heat, and almost instantly we both saw the cutest furniture sitting outside of an adorable little shop. We made a bee line through the crowd of people to see what had caught our eye. Once there we met two of the nicest people. Amy and Teresa a monther daught team who own the shop. We had such a good time talking to them and looking at all of the treasures in their shop. Kathy ended up purchasing a wicker rocking chair which luckliy fit in the car and made it home with us. I guess that it was just ment to be, because it just barely fit in the car with all of our other goddies that we bought along the way.

Farm Chicks Here We Come!

We are on our way... As silly as it sounds as we drove up to the fair grounds to set up on Friday we were a little teary eyed at the thought that we were really going to be in the Farm Chicks show. Now we are looking forward to next years show!

We did not have time to get away to take a picture of the long line and the brave people standing in it on Saturday. It was raining and windy and cold, but that did not stop the flood of people when the doors opened at 10:00 am. We met so many nice people during the show. Some people flew in from Florida and Ohio just to go to the show. Amazing uh!
I love this stool that Kathy made. It looks like it belongs in a little girls room!

We love these girls! Terri and Serina worked so hard to put together a great show. We truly appreciate everything they did to make the Farm Chick show a success.

Staff Appreciation Day

Staff Appreciation Day at our school is the fist week in May. We have so many fun events planned to honor our great staff. Being part of the PTG board I have volunteered to fill the staff mailboxes with some type of goodie everyday for the week. I came up with two things that I have made. I know I'm a little crazy, make them... Yes, I am making 30 of each. A cute little flower pot, and a sassy little paper purse filled with chocolate. Who wouldn't appreciate that! The dog just begged his way into the picture. J

Yard sales are here!!!

O.K. We know that it has been a long time since our last post. No, we don't really have an excuse but have decided that we were going to make a honest effort to post at least once a week. So please don't give up on us. In Feburary we traveled to Utah for a family wedding. We arrived at the airport during one of the worst snow storms that Utah had seen in years. It took us 6 hours to get from the SLC airport to Orem. It was nasty! Then of course there was the girls only trip to Portland for spring break. Portland traffic is horrible! We got lost more than once even with the GPS,I guess that it would help if we knew how to use it properly! Just in case you have never been to Portland or may be planning on going, the streets near PSU downtown are in alphabetical order. Would have been nice to know that before we drove around for a hour looking for Trader Joe's. We are planning our next trip to ID and yes, we will hit every thrift store that we can find along the way. Now with yard sales in full swing we thought we would show off some of our finds. You gotta love Donny Osmond sitting on the wheel of the red cart. Now we are gearing up for the Farm Chicks show in June. Lot's to do!
